AIIMS Bhubaneswar to get its first brain bank (LOCAL)
Profile photo AIIMS Bhubaneswar A brain bio-bank will soon be established at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar to aid neurobiology research. The ICMR will fund the establishment of this one-of-a-kind facility in eastern India. The brain bank will be the second state-of-the-art facility as part of the national task force initiative, following the advanced molecular and diagnostic center for fungus, which is being established at the Microbiology department's mycology laboratory. A brain bank is a place where human brain tissues are stored. The facility will be located at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and the brains will be available for research purposes. AIIMS Director Dr. Gitanjali Batmanabane said the institute has received Rs 47 lakh from ICMR in the first phase to establish the brain bank.
